FAQs

All the questions you have about massage therapy

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?

If you are receiving Active Isolated Stretching,  Thai Yoga Therapy, or Coaching the Body, we suggest you wear comfortable loose-fitting clothing that will also keep you from becoming chilled.

DO I HAVE TO BE NUDE?

It's all about your level of comfort. The majority of our clients either undress fully or leave their underwear on.

Just remember that if you leave clothing on, that is a signal to me that you do not want that area touched... socks = no foot massage, bra = no back massage, etc. Breast tissue and genitals are never massaged.

WHAT IF I DIDN'T SHAVE MY LEGS?

We often have clients apologize for forgetting to shave their legs or armpits. We’ll usually respond with "No worries, we didn't shave our legs either."

A close second is comments/worries about your body shape.

We’re not paying attention to hair or body shape. Our focus is on your muscles and how they interact with your bone structure.

Massage is the time to set aside such worries, relax and enjoy your experience.

SHOULD I TIP?

Whether or not you tip will not affect the quality of the care that you receive, nor will it alter our opinion of you as a consumer (or as a person in general). If tipping will make it more difficult to receive regular therapy then, by all means, please do not tip.

First and foremost we want you to be able to comfortably receive regular therapy.

WHAT IF I GET AROUSED?

It is not a regular occurrence, but sometimes it does happen.

When we become extremely relaxed our body releases endorphins that can sometimes result in mild arousal.

As long as no sexually explicit remarks or advances are made, it is considered to be nothing more than a biochemical response and is simply ignored by the therapist.

Please refrain from making any off-color comments as they will be seen as inappropriate and could result in early ending of your session and permanent dismissal from my practice.
